Targeted HIVAIDS Intervention Programme for Truckers under UPSACS and NACO

Targeted HIVAIDS Intervention Programme for Truckers under UPSACS and NACO
Targeted intervention for Truckers is implemented by “GRAMEEN VIKAS SANSTHA” in the district of Ghaziabad since 2013. The aim of this program is to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and care for the high-risk population (Truckers) of long-distance truck drivers and their helpers. These people spend months at stretch on the highways and thus are away from their home, and family members for extended periods of time. These truckers are more likely to engage in high-risk sexual behaviour than short-distance drivers. This program improves sexual and reproductive health (SRH) among these populations and also focuses on their general health. This is done by various workshops, events, providing necessary medical facilities, regular check-ups and so on.
